Transition Saltspring and WAWWE joined forces for an amazing event at WAWWE farm September 15th. VIP donors from Transition Saltspring were invited to tour the farm, and then have a conversation over appetizers and drinks.
On the tour they heard about WAWWE's regenerative farming practices, the vermiculture centre, the biochar and composting setup, the water recirculation system and more.
Appetizers were prepared by the island treasure Haidee Hart and her team at The Woodshed using food grown right on the farm. The spread was amazing, both nutritious and delicious, as farm fresh food always is.
David and Kirsten Marshall spoke about the vision of meal delivery for the island that was inspiring for all, and Clay Houghland sewed literal seeds of hope with the guests.
Bryan Young and the Transition Saltspring Board of Directors then hosted a roundtable of ideas on where Transition should next focus their attention.
Many thanks to the Transition Saltspring leaders for working with WAWWE on this event, El Jose Sanchez for providing music, the WAWWE staff for growing the food and making the property so welcoming, all the volunteers that helped and donated items to make the event so special, and an extra shout out to Pam and Jon for spearheading the organisational elements and always keeping our community at heart.
We hope to have many more events to come.
